Café Brisas del Mar® specialty begins with good agricultural practices. We are constantly looking for innovation and a comprehensive sustainable management.
One of our most noticeable agricultural practices is the intensive use of leguminous trees as natural shade, which not only fixes nitrogen in the soil, but also contributes to weed and fungus control. Additionally, it incorporates organic matter into the soil, and homogenizes the harvesting stages.
We also incorporate the organic matter generated during different coffee processes into the soil. Such organic matter is pre-inoculated with decomposing and beneficial microorganisms.
Our constant search for innovation is part of our DNA. We are currently running semi-commercial trials with organic nematicides and fungicides. We are also evaluating beneficial mycorrhizae and activated humic acids.
Our fertilization and disease control programs are based on lab analysis and field diagnosis. Additionally, we take into consideration the crop phenological stage, and meteorological data from our farm`s high-tech weather station.
